Technical background
Coolhousing operates its own datacentre with three server rooms in the centre of Prague, on premises of Stimbuilding at Vinohradská třída, directly at the location of the NIX.cz exchange.
Other datacentres, such as Casablanca or GTS Novera are located here as well. The datacentre is located high above the flood area.
Datacentre space is allocated exclusively to Coolhousing.
Datacentre air conditioning
Our server rooms are cooled via a system of cold and hot aisles by several independent air condition units in the N+1 configuration. The functionality of each of them is continuously monitored by an automated monitoring system.
At the same time, independent temperature sensors that monitor input and output air temperature are placed at each air conditioning unit.
The average temperature measured in a cold aisle is 21°C.
Power supply
We cover power grid outages through the central UPS. If an outage is longer than twenty seconds, we switch without interruption to powering from two already running diesel aggregates, which ensures uninterrupted powering of all the datacentre equipment.
We are aware that IT technologies are very sensitive to power supply fluctuations and, therefore, we strictly divide power supply into the IT part (servers) and non-IT part (air conditioning, lighting) even for back-up power supply that is provided for this purpose by two independent diesel aggregates.
EPS (electronic fire-prevention system)
Our third (the most modern server room) is equipped with a modern laser fire-prevention detection system VESDA VLF250 that is tested for functionality of sensors, sirens, etc. in regular intervals. As one of a few datacentre operators, we do not leave anything to chance and, therefore, for the case of fire, we have optical temperature sensors placed under false flooring even outside of the data hall.
Datacentre security
An operator who carries out monitoring in the 24/7 regime is physically present in a datacentre the whole-year round, including holidays. It cannot happen that authorized parties would not be able to access their equipment or that you would not be able to reach the datacentre by phone. Unauthorized persons are not able to enter a server room, handle equipment, or submit requests for work on equipment.
Security of the datacentre and its adjacent areas is continuously monitored by a security agency's camera system. Datacentre premises are monitored by our own camera systems and operators from the monitoring centre. The camera system is operated under a valid registration issued by the Personal Data Protection Office under registration number 00033872.
Coolhousing connectivity
The Coolhousing datacentre network is a multivendor solution - combination of Juniper and Cisco brand technologies. Cisco Catalyst 29xx series are used on the access layer. Everything is interconnected in loops via PVSTP, Per Vlan spanning tree, hundred-megabit components are looped by two-gigabit connections, gigabit components are looped by four-gigabit connections. Load is completely distributed and it steadily stays under 30% of uplink.
We operate four routers at the network periphery, 2 Cisco and 2 Juniper routers. The main routing is provided by Cisco 7600 series and Juniper MX80 routers. Currently, 18 optical routes in two direction lead out of the whole server room. NIX connection is provided by two 10 Gb lines, transit connectivity is provided by Dial Telecom and Interoute over gigabit connections with full BGP tables and community and blackholing support.
Coolhousing s.r.o. operates its own Internet autonomous system under registration No. AS35592, and it is a member of the RIPE and NIX associations.
Coolhousing datacentre services are characteristic for their low prices with high-quality standard of provided services. We prefer a high-quality, safe, and functional solution to various certificates on paper that in the end represent no effective asset for a customer.
